A monthly craft program for older adults. Come for the crafts, stay for the community!
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we will be decorating and learning about "Nicho Boxes".
A nicho box, or simply nicho, is a 3-D display box, like a shadow box, often created as a shrine to important people or loved ones. Traditionally, they combined elements from Roman Catholicism, mestizo spirituality, and popular culture. While Nichos can be made and displayed at any time of the year, many people include nichos as part of their Day of the Dead decorations and on ofrendas.
All supplies will be included. If you would like to bring a picture or image of your own to display in the nicho, please do so! Program limited to 18 participants. Register in person or online at mpl.org/calendar. Make sure to dress for mess!
