The Milwaukee Justice Center can help with legal advice for issues including landlord/tenant, eviction and eviction records, small claims, debt/collections, probate, guardianship, divorce, child custody/placement, child support, and pardons/expungement. (Advice not provided for open/pending criminal cases, only post-conviction issues.)
What do you want people in the future to know about you, your neighborhood, and your life? We will explore ideas in Time Capsule by Lauren Redness, then begin creating time capsules of our own to take home and complete. Afterwards, help make a time capsule for the Center Street Library to open in 15 years when the library turns 50!
Rent for Success is a free 2.5 hour tenant training program designed to educate and empower renters to make safe, healthy choices in their housing, and to provide helpful resources to tenants so that they can effectively resolve tenant/landlord disputes to remain safely in their homes or find a new rental opportunity. Presented by the Department of Neighborhood Services. Learn how to: Understand Rental Agreements, Advocate for yourself legally, Repair your credit, Get a free Credit Report, Respond to housing violations effectively, Find healthy food, End a bad tenancy, Select the right place to rent. You will receive: Certificate of completion, 50-page resource manual. Registration encouraged but not required.
