Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters and Milwaukee Public Library welcome you to enjoy an evening of poetry and conversation with the 23rd Poet Laureate of the United States Joy Harjo.
Through this special event, Joy Harjo will illuminate the layered meanings of home, drawing on themes of land, memory, ancestry, displacement, and healing. Her perspective as a citizen of the Muscogee Nation and a nationally celebrated artist offers a vital lens on issues such as colonization, cultural survival, and community resilience.
Boswell Book Company will be on site selling a collection of Harjo’s work before and after the reading. Registration is encouraged, and walk-ins welcome as space permits.
